Whitewater Rafting
Our rafting bases include Ultimate Descents Aotearoa, Inland Adventures in the South Island, Tongariro River Rafting and Wero Whitewater Park Auckland in the North Island. Makingtrax has worked extensively with rafting including being the policy manager for adaptive rafting with the international rafting federation. We work with professional guides to keep you safe and make sure your experience suits your abilities. Multiday expiditions can also be organised, from overnight to 6 days, class II to IV depending on your ability. Depending on flows there is also an option based in Queenstown.
Requirements
Rafting is a very inclusive sport, we are all sitting and have a whole team to assist with transfers. Our rafting operators provide a specially designed support harness that was designed by Jezza, himself a tetraplegic. This provides support to anyone who has limited function or rely upon a wheelchair for mobility. With a number of experiences to suit most abilities and a very experienced team of profesional river guides, we can organise a river trip to suit you requirements. If you have the strength to hold a paddle, can swim and self transfer it is very simple. If not there are challenges but if we can make it work we will. We can personalise your trip, so let us know as much as possible in your enquiry message, including swimming abilities.
