1.1 million or 24% of our citizens have a physical, sensory, learning, mental health or other disability. Maori experience a higher prevalence of disability. In 2013 26% of the Maori Population identified as living with a disability, 2022 estimates were at 32%. 95,000 or 11% of Tamariki & Rangatahi under the age of 15 have disabilities. Half of whom have conditions since birth. Currently 842,000 people are 65+ and with age comes disability. By 2028 there will be over 1 million people 65+
